Anthony Robinson - Biography

Anthony Valentino Robinson is a contemporary animal artist from the United States who specializes in equine art.  He loves to relay his admiration for horses through expressive, painterly brushwork while holding on to the timeless qualities of the old masters.

Since his childhood, Anthony has been artistically enlightened by the attractive appearance of the horse, their exquisite line, exuberant energy and nimble movements.  Although he didn’t grow up in an environment where he would see horses everyday, Anthony has profound memories of prizing an eager view of them at the county fairs and nearby racetrack.  “Loved the sleekness of the Thoroughbreds'', he recalls, “and walking by the big draught horses at the fair—such giant and gentle creatures they were.”

Anthony spent a couple of years at The Cleveland Institute of Art and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts gathering an arts foundation, though, he attributes his most valued art studies to the Fine Arts section of his local library.  “There, I had the best training from the grand master painters of history.”  He therefore considers himself master-taught as opposed to self-taught, owing a great deal to the tutelage of his biggest influences--namely Velazquez, Van Dyke, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Alfred De Dreux and John Singer Sargent.
